The New Zealand Association of Manuscript Assessors (NZAMA) is a group of professional editors and writers who offer writers feedback on their manuscripts. The Association was set up in 2001. It has a code of professional practice and behaviour. There are strict entry criteria, including knowledge of publishing and markets in New Zealand. Several members are published authors. Others have worked for publishing companies or in book promotion.
The kind of manuscript assessment offered by members of NZAMA differs from a reader's report written for a publisher in that it provides objective advice and guidance to the writer on how to bring his or her work closer to publishable standard.
